So I’m sure you are all aware of the
#NoMakeUpSelfie which has absolutely taken over social media. This has to be
the biggest and best campaign to date. It is absolutely incredible and already
having raised £2million, it just shows the power of social media!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with
this campaign, it’s where girls strip their make up and dare to bare, take a
selfie, donate to Cancer Research and post it on Facebook, Twitter or
Instagram. They can then nominate other girls to get involved.
I’ve seen many people slate this over the
past few days; it’s funny that those who are mocking it happen to be men. I’ve
seen statuses such as; ‘how is a selfie going to raise awareness?’ and
‘donating is enough we don’t need to see your ugly faces’. This is the reason
that today’s society is so corrupt. Women all over the world that are brave
enough to post a photo of all their imperfections and flaws on social media
networking sites should be celebrated. Their pure beauty should be admired; it
takes a lot for women to put themselves in a position where they could face
criticism for not being ‘perfect’. Women everywhere are coming together to do
something amazing for such a great cause.
People really under estimate the power that
social media networking sites really have. Since the campaign has started it
has raised over £2million. This is a huge increase in their donations
especially as it’s all happened over the space of 2 days. When I see those statuses,
which state ‘how is a selfie going to raise awareness?’ well it has already
done just that. As soon as people start talking about it, the awareness is
already raised; it is as simple as that.
Girls all over the world, show off your
beautiful faces and donate to this amazing charity. We are all beautiful and we
all deserve to be able to show off and be proud of the skin that we have. Don’t
be embarrassed or ashamed. Do your part, text BEAT to 70 007.
Here is mine!
